HAUSBRAID vs Vagaro

Vagaro is a salon and spa suite with a marketplace, a point of sale, payroll and a long list of add-ons. HAUSBRAID is built for braiders: your clients call, text and DM as they always have, and each one is written up for your tap.

  • 15 days free, no card to start
  • Never a cut of your bookings
  • Bring your clients from a list or your contacts

Credit where due

What Vagaro does well.

  • A full suite: calendar, point of sale, inventory, payroll, forms, marketing, all under one login.
  • A free marketplace listing with no commission on bookings.
  • A free card reader, and lower rates once you take over $4,000 a month.
  • Vera, a text and chat receptionist, answers messages and sends booking links.

Where it differs

Where a braider feels the difference.

  1. The bill grows by the add-on

Vagaro: Deposits on online bookings need the Shopping Cart add-on ($10), forms are $10, Vera is $10, a site is $20, texts from $20. The $30 plan is rarely the bill.

HAUSBRAID: $20 a month for your first braider has the line, the assistant, DMs, your page, deposits and texting in it.

  2. The phone

Vagaro: Vera answers texts and listing messages. A client who calls while you braid gets voicemail.

HAUSBRAID: Each braider’s line rings their phone; when the braider can’t pick up, the voice assistant does, and the call becomes a booking for their tap.

  3. A suite, or a week

Vagaro: Vagaro gives you every screen a salon could want, and leaves you to find what needs doing.

HAUSBRAID: One list every morning, the few things worth money, each with the reply already written.

Questions

Switching from Vagaro.

Can I bring my Vagaro clients to HAUSBRAID?

Yes, from a spreadsheet: export your clients from Vagaro and bring the list across when you set up, or add them from your phone’s contacts.

Does HAUSBRAID have add-ons?

No. One plan has everything on this page. $20 a month for your first braider, $5 a month for each after.

Does HAUSBRAID do payroll or a point of sale?

No. It takes deposits and payments through your own Stripe or Square account, and keeps your shelf of hair and products. For payroll, keep the tool you use.

Does HAUSBRAID answer calls like Vera answers texts?

Yes, and calls too: when a braider can’t pick up their line, the voice assistant answers, gathers the booking and writes it up for their tap.
